Purchasing reduced priced meat
Whenever I am lucky enough to run into the store, and they have reduced meats (chicken, beef or pork) I purchase them. I have been doing this for 20+ years, and have never had a problem with them. When you purchase meat that is reduced (reduced = shelf life is expiring), you should always either bring home and freeze right away, or cook it. After the meat is cooked, you can consume, or freeze. This has been a great money saver for my family for years.
My husband and I found a
My husband and I found a grocery store in the area that we have fallen in love with. They sell regular stuff at a reduced price because it is past it's 'best by' date. Most of the food is still good to eat, though you have to be careful with some things, and the meat is cheap. We just freeze it right away.
Roadkill? Why Not?
My father used to drive a lot of country roads at all hours of the night. Every once in a while he would whack a deer at 60 mph. The result was a rumpled fender and 100 lbs. of meat on the roadside. He would throw the deer in the back of the truck, take it home and skin it. If there were any bloodshot areas, he would scrap those for the dogs. The rest was good meat.
Talk about reduced priced. :-)
