Let the Purge Begin

Every couple of months I clean out my house and as crazy as it sounds, it saves me money! When I realize how much unnecessary stuff I have just stuffed in closets in my house it makes me crazy and really subdues the need for me to go out and buy more things I don’t need.
For example, when I start going through my bedroom closet and packing up all the things I don’t wear anymore it makes me feel so good to have a nice clean closet that I have no desire to buy clothes to stuff in my newly sorted closet, not mention how much easier it is to get dressed in the morning.
Also, when I begin the process of cleaning and sorting my house I find things I forgot I had. Like last month when I was cleaning out the kitchen I found a HUGE can of green beans at the bottom of the pantry I didn’t know I had….chaching! You never know what you may find stuffed away in corners and drawers.
If you have nice things you don’t need anymore list them on EBay or Craigslist and make some money off of all your organizing work! Electronics and appliances are good things to sell, as well as DVDs, gently used clothes and that old kitchen table you have stuffed in your attic.
If something isn’t contributing positively to your household, let it go! Through this house cleansing you will know what you have, what you need and what you couldn’t possibly every need to buy again.

Earn Money This Way

My boss's son did this (sold old family stuff on Craigs list) to earn some extra cash. Now he's expanding to purchasing from garage sales. Craig's List might someday obsolete garage sales. Last time we had a yard sale, we were harassed by city officials about posting signs.

Finding Lost Items

Good tip.

When I am looking for things and cannot find them right away, that's when I begin to straighten up and organize. About the time I forget what I was looking for, I find it and then I have a more organized office as a benefit.
